About Me

Someday I will write a proper artist statement. Until then, here is a bio:

Nate was born and raised in the frozen tundra of Green Bay, Wisconsin. He was interested in making art from a young age but did not do it regularly until his early twenties. He started making video game-based paintings in the early morning hours after working his third-shift bagel baking job around 2006 or so.

In his mid-twenties he made his way out to Sisters, Oregon, where the mountains and natural beauty inspired him to go back to school and study art. After 2 years studying at Central Oregon Community College in Bend, he moved to Portland and earned a bachelors degree in art practices from Portland State University. His 10 years in Portland were mostly spent painting landscapes and various nerdy pop culture pieces. He also illustrated the children’s book Theo Rio Loves the Water during the summer of 2020. Near the end of his Portland tenure he began dabbling in more abstract works.

In 2022 he decided to move back to Wisconsin. After a year in Milwuakee he now lives in De Pere. There may not be mountains or waterfalls of any substantial height here, but the time away has given him a greater appreciation for some of the nature he had taken for granted while growing up in these parts. Particularly the clouds (he loves Portland but it is really missing out on thunder and cool Midwest storms and the clouds that come with them).
